Karla Barrera: Co-Owner

Not-so-mini-bio: I was born and raised in Punta Las Marias, San Juan, PR. This area has been known for decades as one of the best places to windsurf and do water sports in the island. So with the help of my parents I started windsurfing when I was 8 and Kitesurfing when I was 15. Since then… all my life has revolved around wind, waves and sun! Weeeeell, not everything but almost, almost! Even though Im a beach bum at heart, I did graduate as Valedictorian from UPR’s Business School. But when I graduated I realized that even though I do love business and Marketing, a corporate job was not for me… so… there comes the water sports management company!

Also while in College, I had the most wonderful opportunity of competing for Puerto Rico for a whole year, including the 2004 Olympics in Athens, in the sport of windsurfing. Definitely, a great journey of self discovery, and of course, beautiful sailing around the world.

Thanks to Kitesurfing and Surfing, I met my husband, Phil and we bought the kite school from our good friends Royce and Kiko, along with Antoine and Julie in 2005.

Many waves, gusts and moons have gone by, and now we have what we firmly believe is the best kitesuf school and watersports center in Puerto Rico and our two girls Stella (4yrs) and Ryder (2.5yrs).
